Questions, answered

Do you take my insurance?

Our How fees work page lists the kinds of plans we bill and how each one works. Whether we are in network depends on your plan, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what we find.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay for your visit yourself, and we give you a written estimate in advance, when you book or whenever you ask. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Ask when you call and we will answer plainly before you book. How fees work says how we handle each kind of coverage.

Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we start. Tell us what you feel and we will stop or adjust, and you can raise a hand for a break at any time. We don't promise you will feel nothing.

How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides, based on your health and your history. Many people come every six months and some need a different schedule. We agree one with you after your first visit.

What is a deep cleaning?

A cleaning below the gumline, which your dentist may recommend after measuring your gums. It can take more than one visit, and we explain why before we begin.

Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes, we see children and teens as well as adults. Call us with your child's age and we will tell you what a first visit looks like.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

Call us. We make room for urgent problems when we can and tell you what we can do today and what can wait. Trouble breathing or swallowing, bleeding that won't stop, or swelling that spreads to your face or neck is an emergency: call 911.

Do you offer sedation?

We use local numbing here, and we don't offer sedation. If you would like it for a treatment, we will refer you to a dentist who does.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. After your exam your dentist lists the treatment, the visits it takes and what it will cost, and our front desk goes through your benefits with you. You can ask for it in writing at any time.

Which languages do you speak?

Dr. Hirano speaks English and Japanese. If you would like another language, tell us when you book and we will say what we can arrange.

How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call or message us as early as you can and we will move you to another time. Ask about our cancellation policy when you book.
